After graduating from university, she began her career with Ahmed Zakari & Co, a local audit firm in Nigeria, where she undertook her mandatory one-year national youth service. Her dedication and strong work ethic earned her a permanent role with the firm.
During her time with Ahmed Zakari & Co, Maryam gained valuable audit and assurance experience across a broad range of sectors, including manufacturing, the public sector, agriculture, and financial institutions. Her exposure to these industries helped build a strong technical foundation in the application of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
Since joining BDO Jersey, Maryam has developed a strong focus on fiduciary clients, bringing a client-centric and detail-oriented approach that reflects BDO’s commitment to quality and professionalism.
